Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue!

I absolutely love using  "Red, White, and Blue" in decorating and entertaining.   There is just something about bringing that Americana spirit into our homes that makes for beautiful country living.   Here are some great pictures of that inviting livestyle I'm talking about.

There is just something so cheery about these three colors together.
And what about for entertaining, like this weeked for starters...

Cute, Cute Cute, Super Cute!

And wow how is this for an awesome table setting...
I hope one of these ideas inspires you to add a little  "red, white, and blue" to your home this 4th of July or anytime during the year for that matter.

A Pot Party!

My sister was given some old terracotta pots, and she decided to clean them up and paint them.  She invited me over to join in the fun and we made it a bit of a party...thus " a pot party".  Actually is was a lot of fun just enjoying each others company over a glass of lemonaide, each of us creating our own master piece of a pot.

And here's both finished pots.

A New Found Treasure!

I came across a painting that belonged to my mother that I had put away and had never hung.  It is a picture of a mailbox with my maiden name on it.  My husband and I were highschool sweethearts so I thought it would be fun to add his name "Moore" on the mail in the box. The picture was painted by a very dear friend of my mothers and I remember loving it when I was young.   The frame was gold and it really didn't go with my decor so I had packed it away thnking I would hang it someday.

So I decided to take the frame off and try and paint it.
I used white spray paint.

As you can see it came out stark white.  A little to white for my taste so I dug thru my paints and found some brown burnt umber.  I watered it down a little and brushed it on.

After the paint dryed I did a little sanding and voila! I came out very nice.

I tried positioning it in several different spots in my house, but I think it's new home will be on the red wall paper in the dining room.
