Blog Hoping.

While blog hoping about a month ago I landed on Kathy Passaratte's blog  http://creativehomeexpressions.blogspot.com/'  She was doing a "Blog Swap party".  I had never joined one of these party swaps  before so I thought I would join in on the fun.  Kathy sent me  the name and address of a blog partner and then, heres how it works. She has a few rules to follow:  Check out your blog partners blog and see what she likes and then, send some goodies to her that  that can fit into a empty plastic  strawberry  container.  It could be anything???? So I got busy racking my brain, and in the mean time she is racking her brain...and a few weeks later you receive an awesome box of goodies.  Here is what I received...

A beautiful array of jewelry she had made and a journal that was so special and a delicious smelling autumn candle.
She had wrapped it up to beautifully with her handmade touch.  Patti is her name,  and she is an artist, you will see her talent on her blog site at http://ppandorasbox.blogspot.com/
It was such fun to party with these bloggers.

Blast from the Past!

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Valley Ho Botique Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ.  Some of you may remember the Valley Ho Hotel was built in 1956.  A few years back.......

This chic mid-century modern landmark is every bit as posh as it was then. It is right in the heart of downtown Scottsdale on main street. The hotel was totally remodeled  and restored in 1995,  as well as brought into the 21st century with new updated  design. When I drove into the parking lot I thought Am I on the stage of "Mad Men", no, I've been here before, (some 40 years ago) when I was young child with my parents.

Talk about Day-Zah- Vu.   When I went into the lobby I was WOWED by the restaurant and bar.

The rooms were so mod and groovey I couldn't stop talking about it.
The carpet and tile....

The Drapes and sliding doors

And right down to the groovey air condition vent...

These pictures don't do it justice, but if you ever get the chance you should give this hotel a try.
It's a real "Blast from the Past"!!!

Hint, Hint...Fall is on it's way

With all the beautiful sunflowers fields around, I am really getting in the mood for fall.  My front porch desperately needs a fall looking uplift.  These are my summer wreaths that hang on my front door all summer.  The last two years I have had birds building nests in one of them and they have gotten a little weathered.

I actually had two families of baby birds this year. So fun to watch the process from eggs to chicks to baby birds ready to fly away.
I like to gradually change out my outdoor decor for the change of seasons.  So out with the summer colors... and in with the beautiful fall colors of red yellow and orange...I purchased a couple bunches of sunflowers and some red mums to freshen up last years wreaths.
I added some sunflowers in with my geraniums just to give that hint that the seasons are beginnging to change.
and a few pinecones of course...

A nice little hint that  fall is on it's way... wouldn't you say?

Garden fresh Zucchini Recipe!

While I  was planting a few flowers this past spring I remembered I had some seeds. Not to sure how long I had, had them lying around. They happen to be Zucchini,  Pumpkin, Nasturshim, and Cosmos.  I decided to give it a go.  I have had trouble in the past planting from seed, but what did I have to loose.  Well to my surprise I have some beautiful zucchini, nasturshims, & cosmos.

Pumpkin.....not so much...

But wow 3 out of 4 ain't bad  at all!
I couldn't wait to make my first batch of zuchini bread.
So with company coming I got to work and shredded up 3 small zuchini
And with this great recipe for "Garden Fresh Zucchini Bread" I blended together:
1/2 c oil
1 C sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 C chopped pecans
and 1 1/2 C shredded zucchini
Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or 20 minutes for muffins

And  I decided muffins would be nice this time.

They were delicious !..... If I do say so myself.
Next on the menu is grilled zucchini....yum
